We believe the people working in a nursery are crucial to providing a happy and safe learning environment. Our fully qualified staff have been chosen because of their love of, and dedication to, working with children. Here’s a brief insight into how they became part of the Wise Owl world.
Mrs Toni Krajnik - Proprietor
I was born in Scunthorpe, completed my degree in Psychology at Manchester and went on to a Masters degree in Psychology at Hull, before becoming a qualified teacher. I then became head of two departments at the former Thomas Sumpter School in Scunthorpe. My main roles at Wise Owl are to oversee the running of the nursery and to ensure the teaching is of the highest quality.
My young son Leo attends Wise Owl nursery.
Kelly Gray - Nursery Manager
From the age of 14, I knew I wanted to work with children, so straight after school I completed three courses, gaining NVQ Levels One, Two and Three in childcare and I loved the whole experience. Since leaving college I have gained experience working with 0-two and two-five-year-olds. I started as a Nursery Nurse and have progressed to Manager, of which I am very proud.
Lyndsey Fillingham - Nursery Manager
I grew up around babies and children and knew working with them was the only career for me. After finishing school I went to college and completed my NVQ Level Three Diploma in Nursery Nursing. I have six years’ experience working with children of all ages, beginning as a Nursery Nurse with babies and moving up to senior then to Deputy Manager.
I have a daughter, Leah and a son Max, who both love Wise Owl life.
Naomi Byrne - Deputy Nursery Manager and Barn Owls Key Worker
I have always known I wanted to work with children, so straight from school I completed my NVQ Level Three at North Lindsey College. While studying, I spent two years on various placements, including schools and childminding. I started at Wise Owl in November 2005 as a student and was quickly offered the chance to become one of the team as a nursery assistant and have worked through the ranks to become Senior Nursery Nurse, of which I am very proud. I am also studying for a foundation degree at North Lindsey College.
Adele Robinson - Senior Nursery Nurse and Owlets Key Worker
During college I completed a placement at the Wise Owl Day Nursery and loved it so much I applied to work here. I really enjoy all aspects of childcare particularly my Key Group, watching their development and helping them to progress, knowing that I played a part.
Michelle Swettenham - Snowy Owls Key Worker
I moved to Scunthorpe from Surrey were I had been working as a Nursery Assistant and really loved my job. I have known from an early age that all I wanted to do was work with children. I have always been around children as my Mum has fostered for 18 years. I am currently at Level 2 and now working towards Level 3 whilst at The Wise Owl Day Nursery as I am fully committed to my career as a child carer. I have worked at various other child care facilities and was over the moon when I was offered a job here. I’ve not looked back and continue to really enjoy getting to know all the children and help them develop and grow.
Emma Carolan - Owlets Key Worker
I have lived in Scunthorpe all my life since leaving college. I gained my Level 2 in Childcare at North Lindsey College and have worked in various childcare settings with children aged 0-13 years. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and find it really satisfying to see them progress and develop.
Alice - Tawny Owls Key Worker
I have always wanted to work with children. After I finished school I started to work towards my level 3 in childcare. When I qualified I started working for Crosby Employment Bureau. In January 2008 I came to Wise Owl to cover. During this time they offered me a job and I have enjoyed working here ever since.
Amy - Snowy Owls Key Worker (Apprentice)
I have always lived in Scunthorpe and have wanted to work with children as long as I can remember. I went to North Lindsey College and have gained my level 2 in child care. I have been on several placements through an agency working with childen between the ages of 0-5 years, before coming to Wise Owl Nursery and working towards my level 3 in childcare doing an apprenticeship. I love watching children learn and develop, and becoming more independent knowing I have helped them get to that stage.
