We believe the people working in a nursery are crucial to providing a happy and
safe learning environment. Our fully qualified staff have been chosen because of their love of, and dedication
to, working with children. Here's a brief insight into how they became part of the Wise Owl world.
Mrs Toni Krajnik - Proprietor
I was born in Scunthorpe, completed my degree in Psychology at Manchester and went on to a Masters degree in Psychology at Hull, before becoming a qualified teacher. I then became head of two departments at the former Thomas Sumpter School in Scunthorpe. My main roles at Wise Owl are to oversee the running of the nursery and to ensure the teaching is of the highest quality.
My young son Leo attends Wise Owl nursery.
Kerry Biggins – Business Development Manager
I graduated in 2010 from Leeds Metropolitan University with a degree in Business and Management Studies. I am now working with Wise Owl in a business development role. My main responsibilities within the business will be marketing, branding, fundraising events and improving quality standards within each nursery to ensure the highest level service for you and your child.
Naomi Byrne - Nursery Manager
I have always known I wanted to work with children, so straight from school I completed my NVQ Level Three at
North Lindsey College. While studying, I spent two years on various placements, including schools and
childminding. I started at Wise Owl in November 2005 as a student and was quickly offered the chance to become
one of the team as a nursery assistant and have worked through the ranks to become Nursery Manager, of
which I am very proud. I am now studying a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Care at Hull University.
Nicola Johnson - Deputy Nursery Manager
From an early age I knew I wanted to work in the early years sector, so that's why I worked hard to gain a B A in Education Studies with Childhood Studies at the University of Hull. I am currently studying a Masters Degree in Education and Childcare, alongside an EYPS qualification.
I started Wise Owl in October 2009 as a student, but have been very fortunate to gain a full position as Senior Nursery Nurse in March 2010.
This gives me a great opportunity to work in the area I have so long pursued. Also my son, Jacob gets the opportunity to experience nursery life as he attends Wise Owl in the baby room.
Lucy Polkinghorne – Senior Nursery Nurse
At present I am completing my BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies at Sheffield Hallam University one day a week. The rest of the week I am in the nursery, where I am being trained to be a Deputy Manager for when our third nursery opens next year. I have a sound knowledge of the EYFS and the national curriculum, which allows me to provide quality care to the children at Wise Owl and encourage them to continually learn and develop.

I have grown up around children and childcare as my mum has been a child minder since I was young. I have always been interested in caring for children and have been fortunate to be blessed by 3 children of my own, Anneliese 4 years, Owen 2 years and Caitlin 10 months. This has provided plenty of hands on experience.
My first experience with Wise Owl was in Sep 2008 when I covered temporarily for 2 weeks. I now work at Wise Owl as a nursery assistant and have been working toward my NVQ level 3. My son Owen is also attending and both myself and Owen are loving the new challenges, new experiences and the new friends we are making.

I then got the opportunity to become part of Wise Owl as a Nursery Assistant, I am also currently working towards my Level 3 qualification.
Vicky Harland - Nursery Assistant
When I left school I wanted to be a mid wife, but whilst I was at North Lindsey College studying my Level 2 I went on various placements, working with children aged birth – 5 years. I found this very rewarding and wanted to work with children in an early years setting and play a part in children's learning and development. In November 2010 I was offered a job at Wise Owl. My daughter Tayla also attends Wise Owl in the pre-school room and she thoroughly enjoys her time here and has made lots of new friends. I am now currently working towards my NVQ Level 3.
